The state Department of Environmental Protection Thursday announced no unusual levels of radiation were detected in an environmental study conducted on the grounds of Colonia High School, Woodbridge amid concerns about a possible cancer cluster emanating from there. State investigators carried out testing in April and May after Al Lupiano, a graduate of the school, went public with a list of more than 100 former students over three decades who were diagnosed with rare brain tumors.
The DEP didn’t identify any likely sources of environmental exposure at or near the high school and didn’t find levels of radiation that differ from natural radiation always present in the environment, adding that no further testing is required.
