EDGE NJ, an organization founded to provide supportive services to people experiencing HIV/AIDS, has extended its services to support those in the LGBTQ+ community as well.
The organization has opened a new center in Parsippany that will be the first and so far only center in Morris County to specifically serve the LGBTQ+ community. Its new facility, which opened this week, will provide services including housing, behavioral health and case management. The center will also run support groups out of its locations for families and individuals.
“We provide no- to low-cost counseling services,” said Kelly Martins, the group’s director of member services. “Compassion, a listening ear, a space where they can feel safe and brave, patience, and non-judgment, that’s all it takes. It doesn’t take more than that to be able to see the life change for these people once they are connected to care.”
