It’s back to the campaign trail for U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who officially launched her reelection campaign at a weekend rally in West Caldwell. Sherrill served two terms in New Jersey’s competitive 11th Congressional District. Her seat is one of a handful being targeted by Republicans.

Since the last election cycle, some pollsters have taken a hard look at how they did their polling and whether it was serving the public. Stockton University Poll director John Froonjian says polling has gotten harder.

“People don’t answer the phone anymore. Response rates have plummeted. It’s getting harder and taking longer. And, frankly, getting more expensive to do polling,” Froonjian said. The institute is getting out of candidate versus-candidate polls and will concentrate instead on issue polls.
