Gov. Phil Murphy made a public appearance on Friday, honoring the late Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver. The governor returned from his trip to Italy following the news of the unexpected passing of Oliver this week. The governor called Oliver “a trailblazer in every sense of the word” and “one of the finest public servants in New Jersey’s history” at a press conference in Trenton.
“Let us join together in memorializing the rock star we all cherished and the legacy she now leaves behind,” Murphy said.
Oliver passed away on Aug. 1 at the age of 71.
