An Essex County man is doing his part to help people in his homeland of Ukraine. For the last week, Yuriy Boyechko has been collecting donations at a drop-off center in Florham Park through his organization Hope for Ukraine. The response has been so great that donations are on pause for at least the next two weeks. The organization, however, is still accepting medical supplies and monetary donations.
Founded six years ago to help children with HIV/AIDS in Ukraine, Hope for Ukraine went on to support a range of projects in Ukraine. Yuriy Boyechko, president of the organization, said, “And when this conflict broke out, it just took a different meaning. It’s something that we’ve been doing on a part-time once in a while situation. Now it’s taken over our lives nonstop.”
