The overturning of Roe v. Wade is galvanizing advocates on both sides of the abortion debate and is expected to rattle voters ahead of November’s midterm elections. It could potentially shift the focus from the economy and inflation to these so-called culture wars. Either way, analysts say it’s ammunition for both Democrats and Republicans with the issue now on the ballot.

“It might help the candidates on both sides raise some money. It might help to get their volunteers going and maybe that will have an impact down the line. And getting volunteers going may get a few more people out. But it’s not gonna have a direct impact on people turning out to the polls because of this decision,” said Patrick Murray, director of Monmouth University Polling Institute.
