As gender-related policies remain contentious, Monmouth University Poll surveys residents for their views

Gender-related policies are being hotly debated in several New Jersey school districts; state Attorney General Matthew Platkin has sued three districts over parental notification policies he says violate state anti-discrimination laws.

Despite all the controversy, more than 3 in 4 New Jersey residents believe that schools should be required to notify parents if their child wants to be identified by a different gender, according to a new poll. The Monmouth University Poll, released Tuesday, also shows nuances in the results, with the age of the child being a big factor. For the poll, more than 800 residents were surveyed for their views on issues related to gender identity and schools. Here’s how they answered some of the key questions:
