Not since the so-called Watergate election in 1974 have so many candidates filed to run in the midterm primaries, motivated by the redrawing of district boundaries and a belief that Democratic incumbents are vulnerable heading into the election.
In South Jersey, two GOP candidates are at the front of the pack looking to unseat two-term Democratic Rep. Andy Kim. The district, recently made bluer after redistricting, could be energized by a challenge to Roe v. Wade, says the conventional wisdom. The Cook Political Report recently upgraded the race to “likely Democratic,” but that’s not a lock, says Cook’s David Wasserman.
