It’s last dibs on the remaining federal pandemic relief money for the state, which has helped New Jersey significantly over the last three years. The Murphy administration and lawmakers are deciding how to spend about $1 billion still on the table and there’s no shortage of ideas on just where the money should go.
Gov. Phil Murphy is proposing items like funding for Jersey Shore boardwalks and aid for local governments facing rising employee health care costs. If lawmakers go along with his plans, it will add to the more than $53 billion in appropriations for Murphy’s overall spending plan for the 2024 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
