Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program was meant to be temporary but it’s still in place

It’s been 10 years since former President Barack Obama established the policy known as DACA — Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, to prevent the deportation of children who were brought to the United States without documentation. DACA was meant to be temporary but it’s still in place.

Immigration attorney Renata Castro, who urges Congress to pass permanent immigration reforms, discusses what DACA means for those undocumented children, now adults, living in New Jersey. “Every two years they go through this emotional limbo not knowing where they will be able to call home in the next political season.”
