Even as dozens of international flights packed with baby formula arrive in the United States, the White House hasn’t been able to stabilize the infant formula supply. In fact, by many accounts, the situation is growing worse and the shortages are likely to drag on for months. Kyle Buaya who has been struggling to feed her 6-month-old daughter for months, says Operation Fly Formula was her saving grace when the Michigan plant was forced to close once again. Operation Fly Formula is the government program that partners with overseas manufacturers to fly in shipments of formula that meet U.S. safety standards.

But not everyone agrees. In fact, mom Stephanie Esposito, who is the creator of Formula Finder NJ, says her saving grace has been other moms and believes the crisis is far from over.

“For instance, my son needs hypo-allergic formula and can only tolerate the ready-to-feed. Everything that came over for Operation Fly Formula was all powder. There are so many moms that say my son or daughter can only take ready-to-feed, and that’s not helping the mass majority of people,” said Esposito.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, by July 3 Operation Fly Formula will have imported the equivalent of 37 million 8-ounce bottles of formula.
