Workers at the Troy Hills Starbucks store filed a petition Wednesday with the National Labor Relations Board for a union election. Workers at 17 other Starbucks locations nationwide filed similar petitions. A representative for the baristas at Troy Hills said their decision to unionize stems from wanting to fight for higher wages, fair scheduling and other protections.
Meanwhile, Starbucks Workers United members have been involved in negotiations with the coffee chain, with both sides reporting significant progress.
