U.S. Rep. Albio Sires, who this week announced his retirement from Congress, says his successor should be a moderate. Sires has endorsed as his successor Rob Menendez, son of Sen. Bob Menendez, who held the same seat in Congress — then configured as the 14th — back in the ’90s.
But, despite the fact that the younger Menendez could expect support from the powerful Hudson County Democratic Organization, there’s been a significant “not so fast” response to that idea, mostly from the progressive wing of the Hudson Democrats.
