Rutgers-New Brunswick officials unveiled a new financial aid program earlier this week called the “Scarlet Guarantee.” The program, which will launch in the fall of 2022, will provide financial support for first- and second-year undergraduates based on their families’ adjusted gross income.

The program promises free tuition for students whose families earn less than $65,000 a year and reduced tuition for students whose families earn less than $100,000 a year.

To participate, students must accept an offer of admission to Rutgers-New Brunswick by May 1, 2022, enroll in at least 12 credits per semester and work toward a first bachelor’s degree. They will also be required to meet the Rutgers Satisfactory Academic Progress standards each semester. The program will include certain mandatory fees, beginning with the first semester.
