The union representing more than 1,000 doctors, nurses and other health care professionals and researchers at Rutgers University is still without a contract. On Tuesday, members of the union, the American Association of University Professors Biomedical and Health Sciences of New Jersey, marched through downtown New Brunswick to make that point. The union had agreed to suspend its strike despite not having its demands met.

Catherine Monteleone is an immunologist and president of the union representing the medical staff. “We could go back out again if we have to and, as you can see, we have the support of the other unions and they know that we didn’t finish. But we didn’t finish because we wanted them to get what they could get. Our issues will now be taken up. We’re negotiating today,” Monteleone said.
