New Jersey law enforcement officials say they’ve solved the “Princess Doe” cold case 40 years after the body of a teenage girl was found in a Blairstown cemetery in Warren County. At a news conference Friday, authorities announced the victim was 17-year-old Dawn Olanick from Long Island. They’ve charged 68-year-old Arthur Kinlaw with first-degree murder in connection with the case. Kinlaw is incarcerated in New York on two other murder convictions.
Investigators allege Kinlaw tried to lure Olanick into prostitution. When she refused, they say he drove her to New Jersey and killed her. Authorities also revealed that Kinlaw confessed to the killing back in 2005, but determining the victim’s identity was crucial to building the case against him. Acting Attorney General Matthew Platkin explained that Olanick was finally identified thanks to advances in forensic science.
