Americans seem to have lost faith in the federal government’s ability to control the pandemic and one in five Americans utterly refuses to get vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a new Monmouth University poll. “This is what we elected Joe Biden to do — is get things back to normal. That hasn’t happened. And so I think we’re seeing a decline in faith in government,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

In New Jersey, the rate of people getting booster shots against COVID-19 has plateaued, despite proof that a third dose prevents most deaths related to the disease. Gov. Phil Murphy says, “Frankly in New Jersey, we’re under-boosted.” Convincing people to roll up their sleeves “is like pulling teeth,” said one hospital CEO.
