In Trenton, a gun bill designed to limit concealed carry in New Jersey went from the fast track to getting pulled last month. It’s now back in front of the Assembly where lawmakers are considering the constitutionality of some of the language that’s since been refined — like the definition of a weapon.

Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex), one of the prime sponsors of the bill, said the major amendment to the measure was “primarily to make certain that retired law enforcement will continue to have the same privileges as far as carrying and not being prohibited from sensitive areas, just like current law enforcement.” Other language in the bill would also be cleaned up, he said.
