The latest Monmouth University poll finds residents feeling upbeat about the quality of life in New Jersey, rating the state as a good place to live with an index score of +27. That’s roughly two in three New Jerseyans giving a positive review and on the higher end of the scale since the poll began surveying mood over a decade ago. But the desire to leave is also at an all time high; 59% said they’d like to move out at some point, with the state’s property-tax burden remaining the top reason to exit.
The areas with the least positive views of quality of life came from heavily Democratic urban areas and heavily Republican rural counties. That political line is worth watching, according to Monmouth University pollster Patrick Murray.
