Jersey City is celebrating the success of the Saint Peter’s University men’s basketball team in the NCAA tournament; their historic run brought them all the way to the Elite Eight round — the only 15th seed to ever get that far in the competition — before they lost to the University of North California Tar Heels.
On Friday, the city held a parade for the team and Mayor Steven Fulop presented them with a key to the city. And though he took the head coaching job with the Seton Hall University team earlier this week, Shaheen Holloway, who coached the Saint Peter’s Peacocks to their improbable NCAA run, was on the parade float with the players.
