World leaders struck a historic deal this weekend during marathon climate talks at the COP27 summit held in Egypt. They agreed to create a fund that will require wealthy countries to pay poorer nations for the damage and economic losses caused by climate change. The deal is some 30 years in the making. But negotiators from roughly 200 countries taking part in the United Nations summit failed to address another major concern: cutting more carbon emissions – the biggest source of global warming causing the climate crisis.
New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone attended the climate meeting and wields significant influence over the issue from his position as the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
