Atlantic City remains one of the few places where you can still light up indoors, but that could be snuffed out soon. Legislators want to ban smoking inside casinos. Casinos say that could hurt businesses that struggled immensely during the pandemic. But workers say their health has been compromised long enough.

“We just came out of the most horrific public health crisis ever, a respiratory health emergency and here they are bringing back smoking again where we can’t move, we can’t sway away the smoke, we can’t do anything to protect ourselves,” said Nicole Vitola, co-leader of Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects.
