Montclair University epidemiologist Dr. Stephanie Silvera says that COVID-19 testing lines won’t be nearly as long as the lines for hospital ICU beds if case numbers in New Jersey continue to trend in the wrong direction. Testing is critical, she said.

What should you do if you have symptoms, have been exposed to COVID-19, or need a test? Dr. Meg Fisher, special adviser to New Jersey’s health commissioner said, “First, we want to know if you’re vaccinated or not. If you’re unvaccinated and exposed, that’s the highest risk. We want you to be tested three to five days after your exposure, sooner if you have symptoms. If the test comes back negative, you should still be quarantining for a minimum of seven days.”
