Housing advocates are calling on lawmakers to do more to mitigate the housing crisis in New Jersey. According to a new report, the state ranks as the seventh-most expensive location in the U.S. for renters.
Data shows that people would need to make more than $33 an hour to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment in New Jersey. In Hudson County, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $2,088 a month.
“We want New Jersey’s elected officials and our governor to do everything in their power to help housing in New Jersey,” said Staci Berger, president and CEO of the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey.
