President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Dr. Shereef Elnahal as undersecretary for health in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Elnahal is president and CEO of University Hospital in Newark. He previously served as New Jersey’s state health commissioner.
A successful nomination would mean a return to Veterans Affairs for Elnahal. After joining the Obama administration in 2015, he oversaw quality of care at the veterans affairs department until 2018.
