In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, protests have erupted around the world including in Russian cities, where thousands have taken to the streets. And a unanimous condemnation of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been issued by all our European allies.
New Jersey’s congressional delegation has condemned the invasion. U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Thursday said, “I think the answer is very severe sanctions. The president says these sanctions are going to hurt Russia, hurt their leaders, hurt their economy and that’s already happening. There were reports this morning that the Russian stock market was near collapse and I am going to be very supportive of the most severe sanctions as possible because I do believe that this is going to be punishing to Russia.”
To analyze the situation and the potential impact in New Jersey we are joined by former Time magazine senior reporter and Professor Emeritus of Political Science at St Peter’s University, Alain Sanders.
