Baby formula shortage eases but not for everyone

Some families are still having difficulty finding what they need

Store shelves are slowly filling back up with supplies of baby formula, easing the crisis that plagued the country for months. But the shortage is far from over and ending it could take a while, according to industry experts. Despite imports and ramped-up production within the U.S., formula availability isn’t back to normal. And that’s hitting some families harder than others.

Stephanie Esposito has had trouble finding formula for her 10-month-old son. “The shortage is not over till every single mom dad or whoever can go to the store and find the formula that they need, because each baby has different needs,” she said.

“It may take another couple of months to fully be back to normal. I am not surprised there are still parents having a hard time,” said Dr. Jeff Seiden, Medical Director, Pediatrics with the Virtua Health System.
