“We’re in the backyard of Ground Zero. And to have this event here is … unbelievable,” said Tom McGinley, whose brother died in the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. Furious 9/11 families protested Friday near the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, where the Saudi-funded LIV Golf Tour this weekend is holding a tournament less than 50 miles from where the Twin Towers fell.

Brandishing FBI documents they say indicate Saudi officials in part supported the attack, families angrily called the LIV event “whitewashing” and “sportswashing” of an atrocity. Former President Donald Trump is proudly hosting the LIV tour’s third event. He told the Wall Street Journal, “I don’t know much about the 9/11 families, I don’t know what is their relationship to this.” The Saudi kingdom has denied any involvement in 9/11.
