This Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, set against the backdrop of a chaotic and violent end to America’s longest war. In Cedar Grove, students who weren’t yet born when the tragedy occurred pay solemn tribute each year for all the lives lost in the World Trade Center attack.
High School social studies teacher Steve Gallagher said he shows pictures and videos of the site when he’s teaching students about the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The response? Silence, as students try to absorb it all, questioning why it happened.
