As Donald Trump heads back to the White House to serve as the 47th president of the United States, the outcome of the presidential election brought mixed reactions from young voters in New Jersey.

NJ Spotlight News spoke to young voters on the New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University as well as to youth leaders in Republican county organizations.

Askar Mirza, a sophomore at Rutgers University who is a Ridgefield Park commissioner and treasurer of Rutgers Republicans, said, “I was surprised to see it called it so fast, but I was happy to see that the former president was reelected.”

“I voted on Tuesday; I woke up the next day and was sick to my stomach,” said Kate Quarcoopome, also a sophomore at Rutgers.
