About 2 million residents in the state are eligible to receive “Anchor” property-tax relief benefits. But even after the deadline was extended twice, it seems hundreds of thousands of eligible residents could miss out.

A total of 1.44 million applications for the program have been received, according to the Department of Treasury. Renters who earned under $150,000 or less in 2019 are eligible to receive benefits totaling $450, according to administration estimates. Homeowners with 2019 incomes over $150,000 and up to $250,000 are eligible to receive a $1,000 benefit. Homeowners with incomes up to $150,000 in 2019 are eligible to receive a $1,500 benefit.

Renters and homeowners can check the status of their application through a new tool.
