In the final hours of the state’s 2023 election, New Jersey voters are going to the polls.

State legislative races top the ballot, and only about a quarter of registered voters tend to turn out for such elections. But there has nevertheless been some intense races in several districts, as Republicans try to wrest control of the State House from Democrats. Hot topics have included abortion rights, offshore wind, parental rights and affordability, all helping drive people to the polls. As of Monday, more than 530,000 voters had already cast ballots via mail-in or early in-person voting.

We talked to voters about the election and the issues most important to them.
