Middlesex County, with its confluence of major highways and central location between New York City and Philadelphia, has long been prime real estate for warehouse development. That has brought plenty of business growth to towns like Monroe and Cranbury but also headaches for residents who have seen their lives reshaped by surging truck traffic.

Weighing business and residential concerns in the area has become a priority for local and state leaders. Now, a new study is offering policy recommendations to strike a balance.

“One thing is abundantly clear: Truck traffic is a regional issue and it must be addressed as such. We must work together at all levels of government … and with our partners in the private sector to mitigate the impact of truck traffic on our local roads,” said Ronald Rios, Middlesex County Commissioner Director. “We expect that this will make a big difference for our residents in terms of traffic, noise and safety.”
