Vice President Kamala Harris was in New Jersey on Monday, giving the keynote address at the 113th NAACP Convention in Atlantic City. Harris, the first Black woman vice president, highlighted the accomplishments of the Biden administration. The vice president also sounded an alarm for women’s right to choose, voting rights and the need for stricter gun laws to combat gun violence.
Harris also met with New Jersey legislators to discuss protection of abortion rights in the wake in the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. Local schoolteacher and community activist Zellie Imani is also speaking at this year’s convention. He joins NJ Spotlight News to discuss what he hopes will be addressed at the convention.
