Vaccination sites prepped. First for health care workers, then public

The first health care workers in New Jersey received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, setting off what government and health care leaders hope will be a trend among the public — and the goal of vaccinating 70% of the population within six months.

Hackensack Meridian Health has 30 vaccination sites and is working with the state to create a mega site. Other hospital systems are preparing too for vaccinations among staff members, first frontline workers. Essex County has several vaccination sites and is ready to start vaccinating first responders as soon as the Moderna vaccine is delivered to New Jersey, likely next week.
