US Supreme Court poised to end affirmative action in college admissions

It looks like affirmative action could become a policy of the past. Supreme Court Justices on Monday signaled they’re likely to do away with using race as a factor in college admissions in a controversial decision that’s poised to overturn a decades-old precedent.

During heated, hours-long oral arguments, justices weighed cases challenging affirmative action policies at the University of North Carolina and Harvard University.

Eighteen-year-old Christina Huang from Ridgewood is a freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill. She was among those rallying outside the Supreme Court on Monday. Huang, who is co-director of the UNC for Affirmative Action group, discusses why she and other students are campaigning to keep affirmative action policies in place.
