Updated COVID-19 booster rolls out, replacing previous version

It's a bivalent shot, so it has two parts

The new COVID-19 booster shots are already in arms just days after the CDC greenlit the rollout of an updated vaccine. They’ll replace previous boosters offered in the United States and target both the original coronavirus strain and omicron subvariants. Now being “up to date” with your vaccine will mean having the new shot.

In New Jersey, more than 7 million people have full vaccination status. Just over 4 million residents eligible for a booster have received one. Public health officials hope the new booster will persuade those who’ve been on the fence to get jabbed. Thursday, President Joe Biden was scheduled to make a public plea for Americans to get the updated shots and to detail his administration’s plans to make them available this fall. He canceled the speech today due to the death of Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
