Strike seems to be the word of the day lately, with unions of all types demanding more for their members. The national writers’ strike came to Maplewood, now on its second day outside of Columbia High School, where director Ryan Murphy is filming the TV show “Thriller.” Comedian and New Jersey native Chris Gethard showed up at the picket line yesterday in support of the thousands of writers striking nationally for higher wages, greater job stability and better benefits.

A Cherry Hill Starbucks has joined the ranks of hundreds around the country that have filed for a union election. This coming Tuesday, baristas will hold a “sip-in” to support their cause. They’re asking for support from the public to come buy a coffee and sip-in with them, all in the name of union strong.
