The state is moving to reduce the prison population in a system that has the nation’s highest COVID-19 death rate. In a first-in-the-nation move, thousands of eligible prisoners nearing the end of their sentence will be released. The order went into effect Wednesday with more than 2,000 adults and 50 juveniles freed. Correspondent Michael Hill was there as many took their first steps out from behind bars.
