Thousands rallied in the “Little Ramallah” neighborhood of South Paterson Sunday, calling for an immediate end to the war in the Middle East. Young and old carried Palestinian flags and signs and wore the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh. Speakers also spoke out against Israeli occupation and called out Democrats — including Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9th) — for their staunch support of Israel and vowed to withhold votes from them in the next election.

According to Palestinian officials, more than 5,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza. In a video statement released Monday, Israel’s defense minister said they’re preparing to hit Gaza from the “air, ground and sea.” Although President Biden has stood by Israel’s right to “defend” itself, he is trying to delay a ground attack in hopes of getting more hostages out of the conflict zone.

The death toll of Israelis after the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas stands at 1,400.
