A video that went viral of two teenagers fighting at Bridgewater Commons mall has raised concerns of racial bias. Enrie Simms, whose nephew was arrested in the incident, said her reaction on watching the video was “And then when they put his knee on his back, I was like, that’s not an adult. That’s a child.”
The video shows police officers tackling Simms’ nephew on the ground while the other teen involved stood nearby. Community advocates are calling for the officers to be fired. The Bridgewater Police Department confirms the Somerset County Prosecutor’s office is assisting in the investigation.
