Students from T. Schor Middle School were among the attendance at a Piscataway school board meeting Thursday night, asking the board to reinstate Dr. Cassia Mosdell, a popular school counselor who believes she was let go because of the LGBTQ+ curriculum she was teaching.

“People love to say that we are the future. And we are. We are the ones who will lead this world. And by firing Dr. Mosdell, you are showing so many students that what we want to learn about doesn’t matter,” said one student.

While Mosdell soothed her former students, community members demanded to know why this teacher, who had had excellent evaluations, was suddenly denied tenure after she organized a Day of Silence and prepared LGBTQ lessons for the school.
