In keeping with tradition, the minority party had the opportunity to respond to Gov. Phil Murphy’s State of the State address Tuesday, offering their feedback on, and pushback to, the agenda laid out by the governor.

Before delivering his official response, Senate Minority Leader Anthony Bucco (R-Morris) gave his reaction to the governor’s address, in an interview with NJ Spotlight News.

“I think the governor did what the governor’s supposed to do. He painted a rosy picture of the state of New Jersey at this point. But, you know, I say ‘buyer beware,’ right?” said Bucco.

“Right now, our budget has gone up $20 billion, 60% increase. Governor, talk about that. This year, we’re going to face a $4.5 billion structural deficit in the budget,” Bucco said.
