Former President Donald Trump’s New Jersey businesses could take a hit from his recent felony conviction, as state Attorney General Matt Platkin’s office said it is now reviewing whether to revoke liquor licenses at Trump’s three golf clubs.
New Jersey state law prevents anyone convicted of a crime of “moral turpitude” from owning liquor licenses, and the law also requires the person to be of “reputable character.” The former president has been found guilty of 34 felony charges in his New York hush money case.
In response to the inquiry from the attorney general’s office, the Trump Organization said in a statement the former president is not the holder of the licenses, which are still in good standing as of Wednesday. The statement went on to say probes like this one would “harm the thousands of hard-working Americans” who get their livelihoods through those businesses.
Trump’s three New Jersey clubs are Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster and Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia in Pine Hill.
