Some New Jersey clinics will start offering a choice of COVID-19 vaccines to people who are hesitant to take the Johnson & Johnson shot. After administration of the single-dose vaccine was paused for review because of its connection to rare problems with blood clots, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration on Friday decided the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is safe, but ordered providers to warn recipients about rare complications.
With overall vaccine supplies now plentiful, health officials, concerned about getting more shots into arms, will let people choose their vaccine. New Jersey health commissioner Judy Persichilli said, “We feel very strongly that people should be able to make a choice if they feel uncomfortable with the J&J vaccine…”
