Some New Jerseyans are expressing relief after learning the PennEast Pipeline project is no longer happening. The billion-dollar proposal was intended to deliver natural gas from Pennsylvania to New Jersey, but it would’ve placed a 116-mile pipeline through both states. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that PennEast could use eminent domain to seize state land where the pipeline was being proposed. But state authorities still had not approved the permits needed to proceed and PennEast confirmed Monday the project was off the table.
