Many universities and colleges in New Jersey are requiring students to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination this month if they want to attend class on campus in September. Many are allowing students to apply for religious or medical exemptions.
“If they are not vaccinated, they can take classes online, but they are not able to attend anything in person that is on the campus,” said Jodi Bailey, Vice President of student affairs at New Jersey City University.
“But students who have medical or religious exemptions, we will work with them to be on campus but there will be a mandatory testing each week for them, there will be mask requirements, and there may be certain situations where they may not be able to participate in a particular event,” Bailey said. “But if they’re getting those exemptions, there’s a reason for it and we want to be sure we’re being inclusive of those students.”
