With just a handful of working days left, Democrats in Congress are rushing to pass a long list of legislation before Republicans take control of the House in January, giving them veto power over much of President Joe Biden’s agenda. Some items are routine but critical, like a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown. Others are more ambitious, including landmark civil liberties legislation to protect same-sex marriage.
For Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-7th), these will be among his final votes in office after narrowly losing his reelection bid to former state Senate Republican leader Tom Kean Jr. in the midterm election.
