Republican Jack Ciattarelli is running for governor once again. The gubernatorial candidate officially launched his third campaign bid for the state’s highest office, making good on his promise to get back in the race after nearly unseating Gov. Phil Murphy in the 2021 election.
Ciattarelli announced in Freehold on Tuesday night, vowing that he’d lower business and property taxes and overhaul what public schools teach. The 62-year-old from Central Jersey has a lengthy career in public office, serving with the Raritan Borough Council and the Somerset County Board of Commissioners before winning a seat in the Assembly. He represented the 16th District in the Assembly for seven years.
His announcement comes as no surprise, but it offers serious competition to moderate GOP Sen. Jon Bramnick, who’s already announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination.
