Freshman Rep. Rob Menendez visited the Ironbound section of Newark Friday, bringing attention to some of its small businesses like restaurants and cafes, for National Small Business Week. Menendez stressed the importance of investment in small, neighborhood businesses, and in New Jersey’s downtowns as a whole.
“You see a lot of businesses thriving here on Ferry Street. So I think you have to be at least somewhat satisfied that it achieved its baseline mission,” said Menendez (D-8th). “We’re facing a lot of challenges right now, but it’s always important that the federal government steps up when it needs to, to make sure that businesses like this are able to stay open and thrive.”
